Portrait of a Dancer

Portrait of a Dancer

MOLLY WALDNER

When the world begins to weigh heavily on your shoulders take a walk, exercise a little and clear your mind. Molly dances. She dances like no one is watching and she moves with the music - swirling, spinning and cutting the air with her hands. You could say she’s an improvisational dancer and needs no rehearsal, just the moment. (cont’d)

She moves in a space that’s in her own world. It’s attractive and seductive. It’s in a space where she can go and shut out the rest of the world. Her energy and charisma for dancing has developed a following and notoriety. She has a growing class of dancers both recreationally and competitively that keeps her moving. But there’s a deeper reason behind her moves: she moves for her sister who has cerebral palsy. She sees what it’s like to be limited in movement. She loves her sister and sees her as a light of inspiration and it’s because of her why she dances.

My style has always been a little bit weird - my body isn’t a typical dancer body...but I’ve always liked being weird and different.
