Expression of emotion is a hard action for most people to do. Some get tattoos that tell a story or grief, anger, regret or even happiness. Some lock up and swallow hard and bury it deep inside their soul. For Veronica, her expression spills out on canvas. Just by looking at her paintings, you already know she is a force to be reckoned with and vicious when she has to be. The bold strokes of deep, dark colors foreshadows passion and a fire within. Her choice for red, gold and black colors illustrate her Mexican culture for folk art. Her personal experience conveys a story of overcoming abuse and breaking out of her existing shell and into a world of discovery - expressed as a princess warrior. (cont’d)
She knew she has to continue to grow as an artist. Life has a way of introducing hardships into everyone’s life. Veronica’s next journey would shove her through a dramatic series called “The Dress Series.“ It is an expression of what girls, young women and women go through when sexually abused. The image: a tainted white dress over a faceless body, signifying this can be anyone. Her mood or situation dictates the colors she chooses for each dress. It is a power statement of what some women hide for a lifetime. Abuse is a common factor in many women’s lives - and Veronica delivers her experience for women to see and possibly overcome like she did.
